Precision 3D Modelling & Design for Engineering and Innovation
Bridging the gap between a conceptual sketch and a physical reality. We provide high-fidelity CAD modelling services in Brisbane, ensuring your designs are mathematically accurate and fully optimised for additive manufacturing.
Digital design is the foundation of every successful physical prototype. Without a precise 3D model, even the most advanced 3D printer cannot produce a functional part. At Bandhdelta, our modelling service is not just about creating a visual representation; it is about engineering a solution. We focus on dimensional accuracy, structural integrity, and the specific constraints of 3D printing technologies like FDM and SLA.
Whether you are an entrepreneur with a napkin sketch or an engineer needing a complex assembly refined for production, our design workflow is tailored to your technical requirements. We translate your functional needs into STL, STEP, or IGES files that are ready for immediate fabrication, reducing the need for costly iterations and material waste during the printing phase.
Our Design Process in 4 Steps
Technical Briefing
We analyse your sketches, 2D drawings, or verbal descriptions to establish critical dimensions, tolerances, and the intended use of the part.
Draft Geometry
Our engineers create a primary 3D volume, focusing on the overall form and fit. You receive a preliminary review to ensure the direction is correct.
Refinement & Optimisation
We add precise fillets, wall thicknesses, and internal supports, optimising the model for the chosen material to ensure structural stability.
Final Validation
A final check for manifold geometry (watertightness) is performed. Once approved, the final production files are exported and delivered.
Who is this service for?
Our design services cater to a diverse range of professional and private clients in Brisbane and across Australia. Startups and inventors often use our modelling to create a "Proof of Concept" (PoC) that can be presented to investors. Industrial engineers utilise our services to design custom jigs, fixtures, or replacement parts for legacy machinery where original drawings are no longer available.
Architects and interior designers employ us to create precise scale models of structures, allowing them to visualise spatial relationships in a way that 2D renders cannot provide. Additionally, we support hobbyists and makers who have a vision but lack the CAD software expertise to create a printable file that adheres to the laws of physics and 3D printing constraints.
How the design workflow operates
The workflow is collaborative and iterative. We do not work in a vacuum; we maintain constant communication to ensure the digital model aligns with your physical expectations. Upon receiving your initial request, we determine the level of detail required. A "Basic Concept" might only require general dimensions, whereas "Technical Engineering" requires strict adherence to a 0.2 mm dimensional tolerance to ensure the part fits into a larger assembly.
We use industry-standard CAD software to ensure compatibility. Every model is checked for "manifold" errors—meaning there are no holes in the digital skin of the object—which is critical for the slicing software used by our 14 machines. This rigorous check prevents print failures and ensures that the final physical object is exactly as designed.
What the client should prepare
To expedite the process and ensure accuracy, we recommend providing as much data as possible. This may include:
- Hand-drawn sketches with clear measurements in millimetres.
- Photos of the area where the part will be installed, including photos of mating parts.
- A list of required functional constraints (e.g., "must withstand 5kg of pressure" or "must fit a 10mm bolt").
- Preferred material (e.g., ABS for heat resistance or Resin for high detail), as this affects wall thickness design.
- Any existing 2D PDF or DXF files.
Deliverables: What you receive
At the conclusion of the design phase, once the final payment is settled, you receive a comprehensive digital package. The primary deliverable is the production-ready file, typically in STL or STEP format. STEP files are preferred for those who may need to edit the model in the future, while STL is the universal standard for 3D printing.
In addition to the files, we provide a brief technical summary confirming the final dimensions and the recommended print settings for the chosen material. If the project involves a complex assembly, we provide a breakdown of each individual component. All files are delivered via secure digital download.
Lead times and turnaround
Design timelines vary based on complexity. A simple bracket or a basic conceptual shape can often be completed within 24 to 48 hours. Complex mechanical assemblies with multiple interacting parts may take 5 to 10 business days. We prioritise clear communication, providing updates at each of the four process steps mentioned above.
For clients with urgent deadlines, we offer an expedited service. Please note that urgent requests are subject to a 30% surcharge as per our business rules. We recommend scheduling your design phase at least two weeks before your final prototype deadline to allow for testing and potential refinements.
What is NOT included in this service
It is important to clarify the boundaries of our design service to avoid misunderstandings. Our 3D modelling service does not include:
- Structural engineering certification or signed-off blueprints for building permits.
- Stress analysis simulations (FEA) or fluid dynamics testing (CFD).
- Design of medical implants or certified aerospace components.
- The physical printing of the part (this is a separate service, though we offer integrated packages).
- Modification of proprietary files owned by third parties without written permission.
Pricing and GST calculation
Our design fees are calculated based on the hourly effort required to reach the final approved geometry. We offer two tiers: Basic Concept for visual prototypes and Technical Engineering for functional parts. All prices are listed in Australian Dollars (AUD). In accordance with Australian law, we provide pricing both including and excluding the 10% Goods and Services Tax (GST).
For B2B clients, we offer a payment term of 14 days upon invoicing. For all other orders, a 50% deposit is required before design work commences. The minimum order value for any project is A$45.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I own the rights to the final 3D model?
Yes. Once the final invoice is paid in full, the intellectual property rights to the specific 3D model created for you are transferred to the client. We retain the right to use non-confidential images of the work for our portfolio unless a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) is signed.
Can you convert a 2D drawing into a 3D model?
Absolutely. This is one of our core strengths. We can take PDF, DWG, or even hand-drawn sketches and translate them into a precise 3D geometry. The cost will depend on the complexity and the number of hours required for the "Technical Engineering" tier.
What happens if the printed part doesn't fit perfectly?
We design to a dimensional tolerance of 0.2 mm. If the part does not fit due to a design error on our part, we will refine the model and reprint the part at no additional cost. If the error is due to incorrect dimensions provided in the initial brief, a redesign fee may apply.
Do you provide files for other printing services?
Yes. While we offer in-house printing, we provide the files in universal formats (STL/STEP) so you can use them with any 3D printing service globally.
Ready to start your project?
Whether you need a single technical component or a complex prototype assembly, our Brisbane-based team is ready to assist. We ensure your design is not just a visual representation, but a manufacturable part.
